Advanced Analytics in the top 10 strategic technologies for 2010

Hot:

untitled It's time for predictions and horoscopes. Including the top 10 strategic technologies for greater impact in 2010 Gartner , and placing at number 2 on the use of "Advanced Analytics". I think it's relevant, the importance, but not a future possibility but a reality.

Literal copying its definition:

"Advanced Analytics. Optimization and simulation is using analytical tools and models to maximize business process and decision Effectiveness by examining alternative outcomes and scenarios, Before, after and DURING Implementation and execution process. This can be viewed as a third step in support supporting business' operational decisions. Fixed rules and Prepared Policies Gave way to more Informed decisions powered by the right information at the right time Delivered, Whether-through customer relationship management (CRM) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other applications. The new step is to Provide simulation, prediction, optimization and other analytics, not simply information, to empower even more decision at the time Flexibility and place of every business process action. The new step looks into the future, or will Predicting what can happen. "

From my point of view, although the definition is general and does not detail how companies can benefit from these techniques, points out some lines that I agree with development potential as simulation, process optimization and predictive analytics.

None of these areas is new, for example ATT 20 years ago we used failure prediction systems in semiconductor production facilities, simulation and optimization also had strong growth in the 80 and 90 in engineering and process, or predictive systems CRM for churn prevention.

The flood of information generated and is available not only for big business and, if not for any mortal, makes it increasingly important skills needed to exploit them. What is becoming more plentiful and cheap? - Information and what is and will be scarce? - To transform this information specialists in business, resulting in new revenue or cost reduction. I speak of specialists, not software tool vendors, because the scarce resource is people, and gives much weight to technology investments that do not respond to the expectations because then no personal or organizational culture to use it.

The list of 10 technologies that Gartner points are:

  1. Cloud Computing
  2. Advanced Analytics
  3. Client Computing
  4. IT for Green
  5. Reshaping the Data Center
  6. Social Computing
  7. Security - Activity Monitoring.
  8. Flash Memory
  9. Virtualization for Availability
  10. Mobile Applications

No doubt they all have great potential, but the intelligent exploitation of information I think will have greater strategic impact and generate strong competitive advantage in any industry.
